Madiba week: The lessons his sacrifice taught us, part III
As we emerge from the goodwill that was Mandela Day, instalment three of our video series reminds us of the severity of the Struggle and the brutality of Apartheid. Video courtesy of JAY NAIDOO.
In this video, Mr. Mandela talks about passive resistance and its influence on the defiance campaign initiated by himself and his comrades. He also examines his first departure from a non-violent struggle and his realisation that an armed struggle would be inevitable.
Finally he speaks about the 1955 arrests, when 156 were arrested and charged with treason. DM
